|
|
I ran emerge -C pulseaudio, then added "-pulseaudio" to my use flags, but when I run emerge --update --deep --newuse @world, it still wants to install pulseaudio. I don't even know why I should use pulseaudio, it seems to do nothing but cause problems and my system has always been fine before without it. Every time I run something with sound like mplayer, it restarts pulseaudio and causes problems. When my system doesn't have pulseaudio installed, I can run apps just fine without it and I don't have any problems.
Please can someone help me rid pulseaudio from my system once and for all?
Cheers,

Welcome to the club!
Okay, first you should mask it. You know you don't want it, ever. So you should tell portage. Next, you should check equery d pulseaudo You may have to eliminate a few packages, but most should still be conditional. You may want to also set the alsa use flag if you have not already.
To finish, just run your update. It should finish just fine. _________________ First things first, but not necessarily in that order.
Apologies if I take a while to respond. I'm currently working on the dematerialization circuit for my blue box. |

Thanks, equery d pulseaudio didn't show any packages depending on pulseaudio, but I noticed afterwards that I had pavucontrol installed and in my world file, since I had been trying to use it to solve pulseaudio problems before. Removing this package did the trick. _________________ Intel i7 3820 - 16GB Corsair DDR3 - GeForce GTX 660 2GB - SBLive - 13TB - Gentoo - KDE4 |
