Hi all,
i had been a user of media-video/libav =<9.17
the old codec worked real fast and smoothy, listen FAST ! But buggy, so i needed as well to change.
The new codec is secure but so damned slow that i realy think about to use the old codec again in an isolated enviroment
The new Version SUCKS bec. sooooooo slow. |

Did you read the news item about CPU_FLAGS_X86? ffmpeg/libav have been converted to use CPU_FLAGS_X86="mmx" etc.
If you do not set those new flags, then the resulting code will become much slower. |

Hi chithanh
using cat /proc/cpuinfo shows me the flags whom i use, mmx is also one flag and has been setten in /etc/portage/make.conf
It is slower than the old
comparing means i try out, the quality is a bit better but the performance is in my opinion much to slow.
doing a backstep again and using it offline and again all is fine
Rendering means it takes time, if something new takes to much time, i use the old, thats it |

I thought there was this transitional period of one year in which the old USE flags would still apply? |

Hi Ant P
no need, it works again and this Comp is isolated even the clients who watch the "clips" |
