Hello,

Emerging of media-libs/libjpeg-turbo-1.3.1 is failling on my Gentoo 64 with following error :
Code:
configure:22972: gcc -o conftest -Wl,-O1 -Wl,--as-needed conftest.o  1>&5
/usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/4.8.3/../../../../i686-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ld: i386:x86-64 architecture of input file `conftest.o' is incompatible with i386 output
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status
configure:22975: $? = 1
configure:22982: result: no
configure:22984: error: configuration problem: maybe object file format mismatch.

I'm currently installing this system so the environment is only what can be found in latest stage3 tarball.

Code:
emerge --info '=media-libs/libjpeg-turbo-1.3.1::gentoo'

I am guessing it may be related to you setting ABI_X86="32". Try building it without that variable set and see if it works (i.e. # ABI_X86="" emerge libjpeg-turbo). Also, out of curiosity, why are you setting your CFLAGS to "-march=core-avx2" instead of "-march=native"?

You say you are using a 64-bit system and your CHOST is set that way, but your compiler path, keywords, and profile are x86. Your system is in an inconsistent state. I suspect you used an x86 stage tarball and manually changed a few values in /etc/portage/make.conf. If you want to install a 64-bit system, you need to start from a 64-bit tarball.

Thanks for your responses.

I did a try with ABI_X86="64" as well but it didn't help.

It's because I'm targeting to use Distcc latter.

ok, I'll check this evening (I'm not in front of my PC), but I'm pretty sure I had downloaded 64b image from a Gentoo mirror 2 days back.

Now, it comes to my memory I had the same problem on my i5 few months back, just when Gentoo switched from GCC 4.7.?? to 4.8.3. Returning back to 4.7 solved this issue which is only impacting this package.
Even if I'll continue to investigate, in order to finalize the installation of this machine, do I have a simple solution to export this package on my i5 to install it on my new system ?
