Hi, I'm completely at a loss here, cannot find a solution to a very annoying problem!
It's reproducible on two installations with different audio cards. The system I use now has intel integrated audio, the other one is some version of sound blaster audigy.
The problem is: sounds on some websites are playing with an annoying hissing sound at the start, like some kind of sound spike.
Otherwise music and audio is playing well, like youtube mpd or whatnot. Only some short notification sounds have a problem. As an example there is a chess website lichess.org, if I enable the sound and start a game, every move is accompanied with an annoying spike. Can someone provide me with any ideas on investigating the issue?
I use plain alsa with kernel drivers.

I tried downloading the sound files from lichess.com and testing them locally with cvlc, no problem. It appears that this is somehow connected to the way firefox outputs sound.

| Also, looks like the spikes are not always there, but more likely to appear when the app is trying to output many sounds simultaneously. |
