I don't run LXDE, but I know in Xfce you run into a similar issue and basically it's caused by upower being deprecated (I should probably say usurped) by systemd. Fortunately, it's possible to get the shutdown/suspend features back by using sys-power/upower-pm-utils and sys-auth/consolekit. Basically you'll need to enable the consolekit and policykit USE flags for pambase & consolekit and rebuild. Taking a quick look at lxde USE flags, I assume you'll want upower enabled for lxde-base/lxsession.
Once that's done, add the following to my .xinitrc: "exec ck-launch-session startlxde" and you should be good to go (hopefully). Anyways, good luck. I may give LXDE a go myself as I'm always interested in trying new window managers; if I do, I'll let you know if the shutdown menu works for me.
EDIT: I just installed LXDM, started it with ck-launch-session, and sure enough Suspend, Hibernate, etc. all work (this is by clicking on the power button icon in the lower right portion of the panel). Again, to be clear, I'm using upower via upower-pm-utils, consolekit, polkit, and have the appropriate USE flags set up. I'm also starting LXDE from the CLI via startx (my .xinitrc is exactly what I stated above). |

Hello!
Thank you very much for your help and explanation.
Ive tried all kinds of different settings and startup alternetives, found on google, but nothing seems to help.
Funnything thouhg, i did just a fresh install on a new(old) laptop i just bought, and the buttons showed up on that one directly.
So i give up this for now, its kind of frustrating Again, thank you! |
