I think it's a conflict between gles and vdpau. Can you try disabling gles and see if it builds? Also note that GLES (aka OpenGL ES) is really for embedded systems so you may not even want it.

EDIT: Here is the upstream bug: http://trac.kodi.tv/ticket/10552 The USE flags should probably be updated to prevent that combination.

Hi SDNIC,
yes, seems that there is a conflict, i was still figuring out to use gles... but somehow this makes alot more trouble than before. I will see.
By the way, i am unable to open ur link, if it works for you, i am here in germany censorde again ^^

The link was down for me as well; I viewed it with Google Cache.

thanks, works now.....

what the hell....... a 4 years old known bug and patch and no one is maintaning???

Code:

 Ticket #10552 (closed Patches: Obsolete)

Opened 4 years ago

Last modified 2 years ago
compile fails when using --enable-gles together with vdpau/vaapi
Reported by:    heldchen    Owned by:

Description

the OpenGL/ES implementation currently doesn't support vdpau/vaapi rendering:

root@x-wing:/usr/local/src/xbmc/xbmc/cores/VideoRenderers# make
g++ -MD -c -fPIC -DPIC -D_REENTRANT -D_LARGEFILE64_SOURCE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -g -D_DEBUG -Wall -O2 -D_LINUX -D_FILE_DEFINED -D__STDC_CONSTANT_MACROS -DBIN_INSTALL_PATH="\"/usr/local/lib/xbmc\"" -DINSTALL_PATH="\"/usr/local/share/xbmc\"" -DHAS_SDL_JOYSTICK -D'SVN_REV="34863M"' -DHAVE_CONFIG_H  -I../../.. -I. -I.. -I../../ -I../../../ -I../../linux -I../../../guilib -I../../utils -I../dvdplayer -I../dvdplayer/Codecs/ffmpeg -DDBUS_API_SUBJECT_TO_CHANGE -D_GNU_SOURCE=1 -D_REENTRANT -I/usr/include/ -I/usr/include/SDL -I/usr/include/alsa -I/usr/include/dbus-1.0 -I/usr/include/freetype2 -I/usr/include/fribidi -I/usr/include/glib-2.0 -I/usr/include/hal -I/usr/include/libpng12 -I/usr/include/lzo -I/usr/include/mysql -I/usr/lib/dbus-1.0/include -I/usr/lib/glib-2.0/include -I/usr/local/src/xbmc RenderManager.cpp -o RenderManager.o

make: *** [RenderManager.o] Error 1
root@x-wing:/usr/local/src/xbmc/xbmc/cores/VideoRenderers#

the attached patch adds stub functions for the missing AddProcessor function, but does not introduce actual vdpau/vaapi opengl/es rendering.

Is vdpau/vaapi even supported under opengl/es ?
comment:3 Changed 4 years ago by spiff

yes, they can both in theory be used with gles. but afaik there's not a single piece of hw out there that would require it. imo the correct fix is to make them exclusive for now, not add stubs (since it won't work atm in any case).
comment:4 Changed 4 years ago by heldchen

just as a disclaimer: the fix was not intented to add vdpau/vaapi rendering, but rather lets user compile xbmc with --enable-gles on vdpau/vaapi systems without having to manually disable their hw acceleration in configure. i never said it would make much sense tho to actually use opengl/es on such systems. :)

i agree that the nicer fix would be to fail configure when both opengl/es and vdpau/vaapi are enabled.
comment:5 Changed 4 years ago by exobuzz

I have a single piece of hardware that may require it - O2 Joggler. Since xbmc on emgd is only currently working when using GLES (albeit no video output yet but gui works)

Yeah, I was surprised as well. My guess as to what happened was that Nvidia dropped the Ion (sorry no German version of the article) line around that time so the demand disappeared.

Yes, surprisingly at all ^^
Bug known, patch there and no one cares... hmmmmmmm ^^

ION was dropped by Nvidia because Intel dropped the Intel Atom for the consumer Market and left it just for the Industrial use... thats the reason. So its not Nvidia.
By the way, the "new" Celeron embedded Solutions work alot more smoothy, better South/North Bridges and so on, so who cares anymore for Intel Atom if it is just useful for Industrial Solutions (what I/we use as well ;) ).

The Point is that the Maintainer and Developer seem to dont care about the well known Bugs and Patches..... weird ^^
Well lets see....

AT time i figure out again if Cinelerra and vdr-sc works on Gentoo, lets see as well ^^

With XBMC, i will do the needed Back-Steps at all to get the latest working smoothy, if this means i need to use older Libs etc. i will do...... it becomes crazy that so much has become "crappy" even on Gentoo (sorry for beeing so honest)

Best.....

Yeah, I agree it's a shame. You may want to try contacting upstream directly and see if there was a reason they never pulled the patch forward.

I haven't used Cinelerra in years; I hope it's a lot better now. If the one in Portage has issues, you may want to check a few overlays in case they have newer or differently patched versions.

At least you're on Gentoo where building with custom patches, old versions, etc. is a lot easier than other binary based distros.
