|
|
Hello.
I've configured new system (Lenovo IdeaCentre). Everything works, but one things bother. When executing commands from shell periodically I experience delays up to 1 minute before command prompt is shown. I've tried to run strace and didn't find anything special. It looks like shell waits for process termination and gets the signal long after process is already gone. Maybe someone knows what should I check?
Thanks in advance. |

Are you running nvidia-drivers? There were some weird bugs a while back to do with process handling (iirc they weren't clearing a signal handler, or sth.)
Note that this may be a complete red-herring.
You could check your kernel config against kernel-seeds.org, to see if you're missing anything. Or if you want, pastebin the config, though personally I'd go online and ask in #gentoo - IRC: chat.freenode.net since there are hundreds of people waiting to support you in real-time.
Another thing, are you running under systemd?
What have you upgraded recently (see emerge.log). |

I'll try to check things against kernel-seeds.org
No systemd on my PC and the problem is here from the very beginning. I've experienced it already when booted first time in my kernel at the end of the Book.
I don't use NVidia, but use fglrx and intel video drivers since I have 2 cards.
Actually, I've got an idea. I'll try to boot from Sysrescue CD and see if I get such delays there as well. Maybe there's some hardware problem. |

Okay, good luck; the two video cards bit sounds like it might be in-play. Try it with just one, and no driver for the other in-kernel at all, just to eliminate that. |
