This isn't really a support question, but I'm unsure what the difference between packages like www-client/firefox, and www-client/firefox-bin. Bin seems to mean binary package, which in turn means I'd install it without compiling it from source, but download the pre-compiled binaries, yeah?

If so, is there any benefit other than skipping compilation times? I installed firefox-bin because the downloads were smaller and version 31.2.0-r1 was unmasked, when www-client/firefox was masked past version 24.8.0. Why is this?
