i have got a 60gb IBM hdd
my current partition table looks like this
/dev/hda1 5gb Win95 FAT32 Wíndows XP
/dev/hda2 44gb Win95 FAT32 Ext`d (LBA)
/dev/hda3 100mb Win95 FAT16 /boot
/dev/hda4 500mb Win95 FAT32 /swap
/dev/hda5 44gb Win95 Fat32 Files
i plan to use hda3 for boot and hda4 for swap
my problem is i cannot create another partition for /root
No free sectors available
the extended partition is just 44gb
any way how i can fix this mess without loosing my data on /dev/hda5 ? |

Anytime you mess with the partition table, you should have all data backed up (unless you don't care if it goes bye-bye). So, if we assume you've backed up your data, you can then change partitions around safely
Honestly... if you really don't want to lose the data, copy it to some CDs or another HD. Oterwise you'll be very upset if someting goes wrong and you lose it. _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |
