For the record, I had problems rebuilding sci-libs/plplot-5.10.0-r1on my world updates. The error message was:

In file included from /home/root/var/tmp/portage/portage/sci-libs/plplot-5.10.0-r1/work/plplot-5.10.0/drivers/psttf.cc:46:0:
/usr/include/LASi.h:14:30: fatal error: freetype/ftglyph.h: No such file or directory
compilation terminated.

The issue turned out to be that /usr/include/LASi.h #includes /usr/include/freetype/ftglyph.h, while the latter header file actually sits in /usr/include/freetype2/. Since the package media-libs/lasi-1.1.1 was emerged more than a year ago, I simply remerged it. That solved my problem
