Hi,

Second time recently, that after 'emerge --update --newuse --deep --with-bdeps=y @world' and 'depclean',
I need to 'emerge @preserved-rebuild' - Then it took a whole night to finish - seems that libreoffice re-emerged -
Below are the messages after it was finished - Please advise what to do regarding 'lbase' and 'java'?
I saw this time and previous, messages regarding Mysql package, which is needed for some applications I have -
You may see it in the last part of emerge. log here: http://pastebin.com/3GVc01Mm.

Here is the messages after @preserved-rebuild -
Code:
>>> Installing (1 of 1) app-office/libreoffice-4.2.6.3
<<< !needed  sym /usr/lib64/libmysqlcppconn.so.6
<<< !needed  obj /usr/lib64/libmysqlcppconn.so.6.1.1.1

lobase is the database part of libreoffice. In case you want to use it libreoffice should be emerged with the java USE flag enabled
Quote:
# echo 'app-office/libreoffice java' >> /etc/portage/package.use
# emerge --ask libreoffice

charles17,

Quote:
In case you want to use it

Do you mean to use libreoffice or a special feature of it?
I use libreoffice in general...

In the past there was no problem, no needed additional USE flag -
Something has changed?
Anyway - You recommend me to add java USE flag to /etc/portage/package.use,
rather than to /etc/portage/make.conf?

And then again emerge libreoffice... another long running :(

Thanks

In case you want to use lobase ... (just as the message says)
And I don't like any USE flags in /etc/portage/make.conf as I prefer the fine grained control via /etc/portage/package.use

charles17,

As far as I can see, Lobase is similar to Access/microsoft -
I am not going to use it soon.
Anycase, I will add java USE flag to /etc/portage/package.use -
You are right - adding to /etc/portage/make.conf enlarges and complicates the system.

Hope last time I emerge libreoffice...

Thanks
