Is this a bug? Did I do something wrong? Any ideas are helpful. Let me know if there is other output I should post.. :D

just a shot in the dark:

try it with "lame" CFLAGS/CXXFLAGS only ?

-march=bdver1 -O2 -pipe

does that help ?

I just edited my make.conf to reflect those changes. Using only lame and changed cflags. And executed..
Code:

sudo emerge --newuse zsnes

Got the exact same error :?

What was your thinking behind those changes?

Thanks for the response, sorry it took me so long to respond, I didn't notice there was a reply.

Yes, the above is; looks like a problem either in the upstream source, or perhaps in your perl setup, since autoconf uses perl.

I'd guess an error in the source, as perl errors tend to show up as "module not found" of some sort or another.
Undefined macros are usually a missing file or something not being run correctly, ie build-system problems. If you were trying to correct it, I'd say:
/join ##workingset on IRC: chat.freenode.net
..though that would likely be more useful for the upstream developer.

As is I'd look for a bug and if not, file one.
