If we follow that kind of logic : there's no Linux kernel without help of GNU tools, we would endup with a stupid real long name but not like you think.
As the real name would be more i386/Linux as without i386 no Linux kernel would had been made (Linus start the whole linux kernel thing because of the i386 features). |
That's a dumb idea; OS and ARCH are fundamentally separate, unless you're not implementing a clean POSIX or *nix, in which case I don't care about it.
There have been plenty of other CPUs much better than x86 before and since. That's like expecting someone who's first experience of a PC is with Windows to be beholden to M$.
Mind you, they're not far away from that.. I wonder how many patents RedHat holds that we should be aware of. Not something I'm going to bother chasing, due to the mountains of prior art doing it so much better. |

I'm not refering to the ARCH i386 but the cpu, i386 cpu was the key for Linus to build a kernel for. Without i386 era Linus might have not do the kernel. |

Still a dumb idea, imo, for the reasons stated, which still stand.
But then you were arguing ad absurdum. Never that useful, ime. |
