|
|
I've got an SMP system with the AMD 768 chipset, and can't seem to get USB working. I've compiled the following into my kernel:
* support for USB
* Preliminary USB device filesystem
* UHCI
I have a USB hub plugged in that has lights for each port, but the device never even powers on. I also installed Mandrake 9.0, and the same thing happens. When in WinXP, I don't have any problems.
(Also) my board is the newer version with the "fixed" USB ports, so that shouldn't be a cause.
Any ideas?
- Tim
Update: I've also tried vanilla-sources without any improvement. |

Amd chips sets use ohci so that will be usb-ohci that you have to compile in or load as a module the uhci should be giving you an error do a dmesg and you will see then modprobe usb-ohci and do the dmesg again and it should say some usb stuff.

Consider using gentoo-sources again (which is "Latest version available: 2.4.19-r9" with all the patches included).
Trust me, I have never seen my machine + work machine flying off the handle....
