I've installed Gentoo, X, and KDE. I've emerged evolution. Where is it? CAN I run Evolution without GNOME? I'm assuming so, there were no compilation errors, but I can't find the application. Anyone else running Evolution under KDE w/out GNOME? Where does emerge put the app, and what is it called? I've already did a 'find / -name evolution -print 2>/dev/null' and got nothing except the one in /usr/portage/net-mail. Any ideas?
E-mail me @ rap@geek.com if you have any info... Thanks! |

I'm running Evolution under KDE 3 fine right now. Most user applications are in /usr/bin - do a 'which evolution' and you'll probably get something like this:
Code: |
alec@melvin alec $ which evolution
/usr/bin/evolution
|
If you're using KDE, you can probably just do a 'Run Command' and type 'evolution' - works for me.
Hope this helps - if not, it probably didn't compile right :(

The compile (I'm assuming) went fine, no errors that I can see. But, there is no 'evolution' anywhere to be found. |

Code: | emerge search evolution |
If you can't find it in /usr/bin/evolution, I wouldn't be so sure that the compile went fine. Run the above code; it should tell you if it really is installed. Even if it is, I'd go ahead and remerge it - I'm sorry that I can't help you any further.
