Hi all!
Id like to ask some questions about fonts and antialiasing.
Running Gnome2 with working AA and Mozilla 1.1 compiled against gtk1.
In Mozilla fonts get antialiased, but not all.
The fonts who dont get AAed are those you find in the preferences->appearance->fonts -menu.
Same in galeon (1.2 gtk1), the fonts in preferences are all not AAed, but if a webpage is allowed to use "other" fonts and does that, those are antialiased well.
If i remember right Mozilla compiled against gtk2 and galeon-cvs dont change that fact, except that galeon-cvs has AAed menus.
Can somebody enlighten me and tell me what is different with those fonts that never get AAed? Are those not Truetype Fonts?
Is my situation the usuall one, are your Fonts sometimes AAed and sometimes not as well?
greetings from reunified germany (and thx btw ,

as far as I know only type1 and truetype fonts have support for antialias. what you describe is normal. |

Ok, at least im normal
What about this old xft-"hack" (gdkxft was its name i think) which got you Antialiasing in gnome1, would that be a good idea to use now?
I used it once and all my fonts looked the same then, but they (it) was antialiased

If I remember correctly, the default fonts are Adobe-Helvetica and some other Adobe- font, which are only installed as bitmapped fonts, unless you happen to have the Postscript Type 1 outline versions, which can be purchased as part of the Adobe Fontfolio. |
