I have been trying to run mplayer with the gentoo file-mananger. But mplayer doenst run if I use the "run" feature in WindowMaker. If I try to run gmplayer (or mplayer) with the "run" feature is fails.

Anyone knows what is the problem?

If you specify the full path in "run" command, does it run (e.g: /usr/bin/mplayer) :?:

Mplayer runs fine for me using grun or bbrun. Sounds like a path issue.

Well, the problem is that when I try to run it with "run" it opens, but it is not useable. That is, the windows are there, but no program. ;)

You mean, you have a ViDEO window, but no controller area? Try adding "gui=1" to your ~/.mplayer/config file, or something like that. I've been running Mplayer out of iDesk and Flux quite happily for weeks now.

If he is having the same problem i had (have), it isnt from not enabling the gui. The control and the window both show up, but they are blank. no buttons or anything.

I have the same problem with mplayer running under windowmaker as almostlucky described. When I use the run command or run mplayer from a xterm with the command 'mplayer path/to/movie &' both the gui and the movie window appears but they're blank. I also have another problem since I emerged mplayer-0.90_pre8. When I start mplayer, both the gui and the movie window appear plus another window in which the movie is shown. Does anyone else have this problem? Is it possible that it just like the first problem might be connected to windowmaker or have anyone else had the same problem in another window manager?
