Is there any higher resolution of Larry the Cow poster image out there? Hopefully 1024x768 without the letters in italic.
I searched the forum but could not get any info.
I want to use that image for my bootsplash.

Hello???
Who is the author of this image???
http://www.ibiblio.org/web-gentoo/images/poster.jpg
I made a grub background image based on this one.
But as you see, there is some dithering around the letters, so the grub image gets worse when reduced in colors.
Who is the one in the Gentoo team who own this original, not in JPEG format? |

If you remove the letters and remake the grub .xpm.gz splash image, please share it with ut - I am looking forward to seeing something else than the default grub theme _________________ {Linux User #333296}

Over a year and half has passed....and there found no one who really made this image???
I cannot believe this!
Is Gentoo project running by no one??? Some graphic designer, whether or not pro/amateur must have done this job.
We gotta find him/her. Come on!

If I recall correctly, Larry is from a free font set.
However, I don't remember the name of the font. _________________ meow. |

Unfortunately, Larry the Cow is now a supermodel, and will not get out of bed for less than 1000 blades of fresh grass... |

Found it!
http://fonthead.com/freeware.php <-- on that site at the very bottom.
Larry is the lowercase 's'.
Have fun! _________________ meow. |

Thanks for finding him! I did not know that he is made of FONT, not of just painting.
But my point is rather on the background image of THAT specific poster, not on Larry himself.
I would rather use the background image WITHOUT "LARRY THE COW....DISTRIBUTIONS..." and "...UNTIL HE TRIED...And heliked it." stuff.
Because, when you think about using it as grub background, what irritates you is the letters, especially when you have many entries in grub.conf, the "...UNTIL..." stuff overwraps them and really annoy you.
It is hard for me to erase the stuffs, cause the bottom area has gradation, which is difficult to imitate after erasing the colors to get rid of the letter. It is also difficult to get rid of the top letters while leaving the ring waves as they are.
This is why I want to know who made the image, so that I can figure out if he/she still has the original, hopefully larger and more sharp one, more hopefully without adding the letters. |
