Ok, maybe an extreemly stupid question but...
Is the emerge tool enough to keep my Gentoo installation up to date, even when there is a new release like Gento 2004? Will emerge --update system plus chaning my current kernel to 2.6 do the same as a fresh install from a Gentoo 2004 live-cd?

Yeah, no need to re-install
Doing an --update world will put you on the latest version _________________ www.iamthepenguin.com |

as far as i understood, there's no need to reinstall with a 2004.0 cd, you get the tarballs from the internet anyways, so an emerge -U world should be enough... _________________ geek by nature, linux by choice
