While I wait for the Linux binaries to get released, I sit around with three attractive mini-coasters and a commemorative NWN hanky. :-P

I saw someone posting shots of this running on their box ( Kde 3.1 too :-) ) earlier... would they like to share the details here? The game won't install for me under WineX.

If the answer skirts close to kleibers announcement at the forum top, signal this by posting the words "GIANT APE JUICE" as the subject of a blank post.

Lemon tree! I mean, Tippy-Toe!!

doesnt install under wine or winex unfortunalty , however if you have a windows install handy or someone you can get to install your copy and copy across via lan etc the game runs really nice under latest winex , or wine although movies dont work under wine.just start the game in the dir you installed it to with> #winex nwmain.exe
I experienced no performance loss than under windows , running on a g400 even :)
Send me a PM if you get really stuck :)

Cheers
Dale.

Thanks Dale. :-)

I did this last night - installing it on my g-friends XP system and scp'ing the whole megillah across the network. Still couldn't get it working though - "winex nwmain.exe" just sits there...
forever...
and ever...
and ever...

I will unmask and emerge winex-cvs, and see if that brings me great justice. I guess I should be more worried about Morrowind though, because at least I know the client for NWN is coming, even if slowly. :-)

P.S. Hey, when I woke up this morning, the UT2003 Demo had emerged! Great gravy, it's fun-tastic!

Oooh, not sure. I'll have to check it out.

Yeah, I have, but that was under Debian. Unless WineX here is fundamentally different ( don't see how it could be ), I should be fine. Are you running the WineX build, or the WineX-CVS one?

And hey, regarding UT2K3, give it a go anyway, it even supports Voodoo 3 cards. ;-)

Im using the bins from transgaming ....

I have tried ut2003 but it only supports the older cards with direct , opengl under linux im gettin the dreaded XIG problems ..if you know how to resolve this let me know :) I ve even tied the patches to no avail and the matrox drivers are definitly working judging by how winex runs other games....

Cheers
Dale.

We already have a NWN discussion thread. This one started out support related, so lets try and keep it that way.

Not so good. :-/

I got it to run, once. :-P Every other time I've tried, it just sits there, twiddling its thumbs... but I am performing further experiments. ( Including hopefully a debugger run in an hour or two... if OpenOffice ever finishes compiling )

Have you tried rebooting between running it , I found for some reason ,intermitanly wine/winex seemed to stuff up Xconfig and remove dri support requiring a reboot , even if I restarted the X session it wouldnt pick up the default config , once rebooted all is well again .....once youve exited the game check glxinfo for any changes I found even though I had the matrox driver installed (glxinfo showed all is well before running the game)it had dropped dri and was using mesa software rendering , it seems quite a few are having issues with this problem .
It seems replicating the windows api has inherited a few of windows problems lolol

Cheers
