|
|
I've been running Gentoo 1.2 for a while and recently updated it to 1.4_rc1, with only minor problems (audacity and mix2000 won't emerge). Now when I tried to install Gentoo 1.4_rc1 from ut-live-cd to another computer, everything goes fine until it's time to install grub.
| Code: |
grub> root (hd1,0)
Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83
grub> setup (hd1)
Checking if "/boot/grub/stage1" exists... no
Checking if "/grub/stage1" exists... no
Error 15: File not found
grub>
|
Same problem with setup (hd1,0) or when creating a bootdisk.
Oh yes, and the stage1 and stage2 really are in /boot/grub
hdb1 = ext3
hdb2 = swap
hdb3 = reiserfs
Any ideas? _________________ Janne |

| Is /boot/grub/stage1 on (hd1,0) or on (hd0,0)? |

ok, problem solved. I think at least.
Seems like something had gone wrong, and at some point of the installation something hade created some crap in the /boot partition that didn't belong there and that I was unable to delete.
I moved the HD to my Gentoo computer, recreated the filesystem, copied the contents of my /boot partition to this new install and installed grub. Everything went smoothly _________________ Janne |
