I'm trying to copy the icewm directory as root to my username.

So,

cd /usr/lib
cp icewm /home/andrzejpw/.icewm

It spits out cp: ommiting directory icewm

I've tried billions of things. copying to /root, etc. HELP!

It could be because it's a directory

try cp -r path/to/folder

Have you looked at the permssions for the file? Is it being copied to a different partition or drive maybe? I would look at the permissions personally.

It is a directory. Let me go check if that works.

I'm VERY confused about permissions. Can't root do ANYTHING?

Root can do everything. I don't think permissions are your problem.

Check out the man page for cp. You will find other helpful options (for example -p and -a can be useful, especially while copying directories).
