After I finally got my printer working, I can type in something like
> lpr -P HPDJ720C test
under both root or a user (which I assigned permissions to lp0). However, when openoffice executes that command, it will only print under root. If it's printed under another user, lpr hangs until it's killed manually. I'm using a workstation install for the user. Any ideas how I can get users to print under OpenOffice? |

Last time I checked (4 days ago) it was a known problem. I don't know if it was fixed in the meantime. I don't have a solution, but here is the ugly workaround I use on office machine.
write a script such as this one:
#!/bin/bash
#wrkrnd.sh
cat > /tmp/tmp.prnt.ps
lpr -P <printername> /tmp/tmp.prnt.ps
rm /tmp/tmp.prnt.ps
and tell openoffice to use wrkrnd.sh to print. [/b] |
