Is there Artop support on the PPC iso? I read the Artop discussion
on the hardware forum, but this seemed to be primarily x86
related.

My situation is that I have a Blue & White G3 in which I have
installed the Artop PCI-IDE card and a 7200 rpm drive, on
which I would like to install Linux. I tried both Mandrake 8.2,
which could not see the drive, and YDL 2.3, which could see
the drive but couldn't install anything.

Thanks,
David

There's definately not support for it on the ISO, and in fact i don't think that there is even ppc kernel support for it.

I reccomend a promise based card for anyone else looking for IDE PCI cards, as they do work on in Linux (although you can't boot from them as the Apple OF doesn't see them)

Thanks for the info.

There must be support for it, if YDL
can partition the disk.

As you stated ydl 2.3 can see the drive, but can't install to it. This doesn't mean its supported, it means the drivers are functional enough to see it's there.

We (Gentoo PPC) will be supporting by default anything that is either a) distrubted by Apple or other PPC hardware manufacturers, and b) is know to work on ppc in general and is _common_

There are a lot of one off sort of cards you can put into your machine and make it work, but that doesn't mean they are actually ok to use or reccomended. We have to draw the line somwehere unfortunately and this would b one of those areas :/
