Would it not be a good idea to make a sticky topic in Portage & Programming telling people not to post xyz failed to compile style posts in that forum, but on bugs.gentoo.org, after searching? And for any other posts that should be filed as bugs instead?
There's an awful lot of forum threads that should be bugs. Just a thought. _________________ Gentoo/AMD64, shell-tools, net-mail, vim, recruiters

Because if you post to the bug list you will just be ignored anyway. Two of the bugs I'm tracking on the Gentoo list are a year old, with no action. Another, on the GNOME list, I reported 21 months ago (gnome-2.0!). The maintainer upped the severity to Major and it still is not fixed.
At least on the forum you might get some help. |

But what about the bugs that are posted in P&P and never actually make it to bugs.gentoo.org?
A lot of newer people aren't familiar with bugzilla, or believe it is a facility reserved for the developers. So maybe a response is more likely when you post on the forums - but still, Portage & Programming seems to be bugzilla Mk II to me... _________________ Gentoo/AMD64, shell-tools, net-mail, vim, recruiters
