I think I have this almost figured out but need some help on one final issue.
I just got a CD-RW for my birthday. I got it working finally in Windows(so my husband could use it) and now I am trying to set up the device for my Linux partition. I read that I must enable the ide-scsi emulation in order for this work and to pass the ide-scsi option to the kernel in the grub menu.lst.
Do I also need to change the entry in /etc/fstab. I search and didnt come up with anything.
One more question. Since I will have to recompile my kernel (did not put scsi options) will I have to also create a new entry in /dev for scd0 or will this automatically be done when I recompile?
Thanks

Not if you're using devfs, which will magically send the /dev/cdroms/cdrom0 symlink to the right place

Again, devfs has got you covered. Just get the right stuff in the kernel, and everything else should magically do what you want. _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |
