|
|
Hi, all! Gnome appears to be working great, but I have no idea how to import True Type fonts from my NTFS partition (I can look at the partition fine, simply don't know of a tool in Gnome that will help me to import the fonts). Anyone have a hint?
Also, I've installed gnome-print/cups, but still don't have anything in my Applications menu that will allow me to select/setup a printer. Anyone?
Also, has anyone gotten openoffice to work?? It installed without errors; however, my windows are horribly large, my comboboxes are about 2 pixels high, and it's basically unusable! Help!
Finally (I can hear the sighs now!), when typing this in Mozilla, I have no cursor, and no way to know where my text will be inserted.
Thanks to all in advance!! |

Those links were all well and good, and the search functionality is nice when it doesn't return a ton of hits. Being a newbie, as my subject said, I wasn't sure of what terms to use to narrow down my search list.
What you're basically saying is that you don't have a quick answer for me, know of no easy way for me to do the things I was asking (as a newbie), and that I should rumage around until I find my answer.
Well, at least I now know to not even bother posting a question here. Thanks for the introduction to your little "community".

IF you would have read those two threads you'd knew by now how to get your truetype fonts working ...
for the other three questions you should make seperate posts at the appropriate boards ... _________________ A mathematician is a machine for turning coffee into theorems. ~ Alfred Renyi (*1921 - †1970) |

open a browser. url---> localhost:631
there you can configure your printer.

If you are still around, you might find that most here respond in a friendly manner, especially to new users. _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |

<voice character="jarjar binks">excuse me</voice> but i dont see any rudeness in my answer, i even said please when i asked him to use the search facility before posting already answered questions.
but well, next time i might just post the link to the fourm guidelines and maybe additionally quote the first two points "1. Check that your question isn't answered anywhere else" and "2. Search before posting" ... but i see ... as the guidelines are dated april 20th, 2002, they are probably just too old be valid at all and one should ignore them. and also thanks for shitting on me just because i actually told him the links to the answer to his truetype problem instead of just writing the lot again with my own words and not spending an hour on writing an answer to a question which already has been answered before.
