|
|
Hi,
I downloaded VMware 3.2 and started to install using the VMware installer, However the script checks for rc0.d-rc6.d which are not part of Gentoo of course.
I have no idea why VMware wants to know where the init scripts are, can anyone suggest a reason?
Also can I create a directory containing sym links of the rc#.d directories?
Thanks in advance. _________________ Cheers,

the init scripts are used to start up the vmware "virtual" ehternet devices used to hook up the virtual machines to the internet or talk to your host filesystem. I had the same problem a while back using slackware, for slackware all I did was create the empty /etc/init.d/rc0.d-rc6.d directories. And it worked to install it at least.
I'm not sure if this will work
but you will need to add one of the vmware startup scripts to your gentoo /etc/init.d folder then issue the following command as root
rc-update add vmware default
replace vmware with whatever the script name is. |
