I'm fairly unexperience in this, but could the following be regarded as a bug, or is it a misconfiguration on my part somewhere?
bash-2.05a# emerge -p ExtUtils-MakeMaker
These are the packages that I would merge, in order.
Calculating dependencies ...done!
!!! Error: circular dependencies:
ebuild / dev-perl/ExtUtils-MakeMaker-6.03-r1 depends on ebuild / dev-perl/ExtUtils-MakeMaker-6.03-r1
bash-2.05a# |

Does "emerge -dp" give any more helpful information about what the circular dependency is? What version of portage are you using? "emerge -V" will tell you this. _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |

I'm not in Linux at the moment, but the details are clear i think: the package depends on itself! I'll boot linux later and post more details.
I've booted Linux and the dependency is like I said, the package depends on itself. I use Portage v1.9.10
I'll try installing it without dependency checks, maybe that solves the problem. |

Ok. I've upgraded to portage 2.0.36 (last version) and now it works. Thanks |
