is it possible to USE="md5" ??
i just noticed when i was emerging system that i was checking for md5 and it said NO -- thanks

is this on a new install? if you havent made any changes to your USE variables that have borked the defaults too much checking software using md5 no. should be working...i never payed attention to the messege when running emerge system but possibly it just ignorse that while calculating the needed packages then checks each against their own md5 no.'s when they are dowloaded and unpacked? |

this is a new install. i have made changes to the use flag. i am setting up a new server and i dont want X -- anyway. it is probably nothing to worry about -- it happened under the ./configure stage. if you know what i mean -- ill come back if somethings is'nt as it suppose to be.
