Hi,
I would like to get rid of KDE 2 and KDE 2 libs and emerge them again if I find they are really necessary. I have tried kreatecd and cervisia 1.4 which I believe rely on KDE 2 lib being present and the fonts are messed and there are no graphics or icons in the apps so my KDE 2 stuff is pretty messed up.
What is the best practice to unmerge the KDE 2 stuff?
TIA |

The best practice I found was to do it one at a time, if you do emerge kde and then try doing emerge unmerge kde, the second command wont uninstall all the packages installed by the first command. I unmerged the packages individually by going to the kde directory in the portage tree and unmerging each directory listed in that directory of the tree. |

Thanks,
I just found all the KDE2 ebuilds that were registered in:
/var/db/pkg/kde-base
and umerged them. Then I scanned thru the KDE2 directories and found the KDE2 apps I wasn't using anymore and umerged them.
My KDE2 directories where then pretty sparce so I just deleted them.
Hopefully, that will do it. |
