I use gentoo1.3b ( 3.1.1-r1 )
CFLAGS:
Quote: |
CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu"
CFLAGS="-march=pentium2 -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -fforce-addr -falign-functions=4"
CXXFLAGS="-march=pentium2 -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -fforce-addr -falign-functions=4"

I made update to fluxbox and I got:

Your system is pretty simple ( gcc ver and CFLAGS ).
Is it resonable? _________________ All for one and one for All

I use fluxbox on my pentium-mmx 266mhz and I have not problems with it. i also haven't had any problems since i updated to the newest version. If I'm running anything that stresses the processor (like if I try to watch a mpg4, which requires most of the processing power on this computer to decode it), then sometimes flux will sort of hiccup with movement of windows. but for everyday use it works fine.
do you use mozilla or galeon by any chance? both run too slow for such a slow computer, so I use opera instead. i actually prefer galeon, but I settle for what this computer can handle.
it sounds like maybe there is some other problem if you are getting such poor performance out of a minimalist wm.
anyway, i just compile with march=pentium-mmx -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer. nothing special.
have you updated anything else recently? give us more clues .
