hello!
I'm doing an emerge --update system and I am getting the following error...
Calculating world dependencies \
!!! Error: couldn't find match for || in sys-apps/baselayout-1.8.3
I've done this lots of times in the past and it has worked fine.
(I've also done an emerge rsync)

Happened to me too, and I can only add, that the last time I updated the system was a month ago.

Things like this are often caused by the syntax of ebuilds outpacing the version of Portage you have on your system. Can you try updating Portage and seeing if that fixes the problems?

You were right. emerge portage -u did what was needed.
