emerging with stage3 iso

hello. obviously i'm new, and was wondering how exactly you go about getting the files off a stage3 iso, so that you can emerge gnome or something like that without having to download anything. is there a way to just copy all the files off the cd and into your distfiles directory?

It doesn't work like that. Stage 3, as is my understanding, has the system precompiled, but doesn't include any source code for apps. Emerge will have to download the source code itself... This is kind of the point so you can always get the latest source.
