I have an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ on an Abit KV8-Max3 motherboard that has an onboard 3com 3c940 network card.

Each time I boot from the cd it tells me it cannot find any network cards and drops me to a command prompt.

I've searched and found that I need to load a sk98lin driver (I think), but being a N00b I'm not sure how to load that after it drops me to a command prompt, let alone how to restart the installation without rebooting.

Anyone?
Thanks!

I have the same motherboard and just got it installed over the weekend. sk98lin is the correct driver. You just have to do:
modprobe sk98lin
and it will load the driver. You then have to start networking with:
/etc/init.d/net.eth0 start
or something like that (not sure about the net.eth0 part, but it has eth0 in it).

yeah, the 3com 940c NIC cant be autodetected, windows cant find it either, so you have to manually modprobe the sk98lin module

This is available from http://www.asus.com.tw/support/download/item.aspx?ModelName=K8V%20Deluxe&Type=All

Look for files with Linux in their name
