|
|
Hey all, I just installed vmware-workstation. Upon completing the configuration, and trying to run vmware, I get the following error:
ahijah root # /opt/vmware/bin/vmware
/opt/vmware/bin/vmware: relocation error: /opt/vmware/bin/vmware: undefined symbol: atexit
ahijah root #
I have no idea what the problem is. I made sure that the configuraiton was done using the running kernel's include dir.
Any thoughts? _________________ Darren Greer

Hi,
I had the same problem when I built vmware under a kernel that had "Set version information on all module symbols" in the "Loadable Module Support Section" of the kernel configuration file. I successfully built vmware and it's modules by disabling this option, compliling the kernel with no loadable module support. I re-enabled that option, re-compiled the kernel and vmware ran fine.
This is a work-around but it worked for me, hope this helps,
Christian. |

I have these relocation errors since switching to gcc 3.2.
c_kuzmanic 's workaround does not help here.
Any thoughts? |

Vmware does not run using gcc3.2 and glibc 2.2.5-r7.
Going back to glibc 2.2.5-r6 fixed it |

I guess it has.
-r7 was "suddenly" re-masked and replaced by -r6 some weeks ago. |

I was just wondering. Even though I am not running the GCC 3.2 series, I am very interested in it. Problem is, if vmware doesn't work then I'm better off with 2.95 lol... but the glibc thing just reminded me of it. |
