Gnome 2 and Gentoo 1.4

Is gnome 2 enabled by default in gentoo 1.4?

I want to install some Gnome apps in Fluxbox, would prefer just to go straight tp Gnome 2

"emerge -p gnome" will install gnome-2.0.1 as default.
Gnome-1.4 libraries will be installed if a program you wish to emerge need them.
The default flag is "gtk" not "gtk2", so if you wish to have programs -which support gtk2- compiled with the new toolkit you have to set the "gtk2" flag in your USE-Variable (/etc/make.conf).
Otherwise only Gnome-2.0 applications will be compiled against Gtk-2.0
