this is related to my thread in the Desktop Environment Forum.

In this set top box I'll be running a Via Epia Motherboard with an 800 MHz C3 Chip on it. probably 256 or 512 MB PC133 Ram too. it has TV-Out onboard, but I'd like to have a video-in option as well. I've heard WinTV Cards are popular. In order to incorporate Digital VCR-Type functionality will the Via Setup be able to encode the viedeo or will I need another card (Mpeg Encoder Maybe?) The problem is that the board only supports 2 PCI Devices (Only has one slot though, so I'm assuming theres a riser card you can purchase to use 2 cards)
it has video/lan/tv-out & Stereo sound, but I want 4.1 speakers so I'm gonna put my SBLive in there too. With only one PCI Slot free is there a way for me to effectively capture video? |
