|
|
keyboard is Sun type 6 keyboard (non-USB) attached to Ultra 10
when i boot up using 2.6.1-sparc kernel (sparc-dev-sources-2.6.1) then i can not input anything, keymap is totally garbled - not even shifted but i mean totally garbled. has anyone else seen such behaviour? any suggestions?
i've tried to play around with kernel configuration but nothing helps. 2.4.23-sparc-r1 kernel works fine. the configuration for 2.6.0 from http://dev.gentoo.org/~ciaranm/configs/kernel did not help. |

Try editing /etc/rc.conf and commenting out the KEYMAP="whatever" line. This fixed the problem for me. _________________ Running Gentoo On:

Set your keymap to an x86 style setting (eg "us"). For non-us keyboards, 2.6.1 is broken, you'll need to apply this bit of patchy goodness. |

thanks, that's interesting ... i had KEYMAP="sunkeymap" there and removing it really fixed the immediate problem although it means that the keymap is not usable and i can't use composed characters now (estonian characters from US layout keyboard) ... still, to look at the bright side, now at least i'm able to log in from console |
