Just went thru the gentoo's install process and when try to boot i get the error 15 - File not Found. When I go into the grub prompt and try to load the kernel
root (hd0,0)
setup(hd0)
kernel /boot/bzImage root=/dev/hda2 (hda2 is my root partition)

I get file not found. For some reason /boot/bzImage file is not found.

I'll appreciate any suggestions or ideas

thanks
Master P

See if this helps. Use it to find bzImage.

Do you have a separate /boot partition? If so, where is it?

Hey Munisp

What the assumption you left us with is that you only made two partions. hda1 for swap and hda2 for root. is this correct. Now the only thing this could mean is that you didnt cp /usr/src/linux/arch/i386/boot/bzImage /boot/ after you compiled the kernel.

okay
Quote:

root (hd0,0)
setup(hd0)
kernel /boot/bzImage root=/dev/hda2 (hda2 is my root partition)

Now does your partion table like so:
hda1 /boot , hda2 /root , hda3 swap

correct me if im wrong, just need info to know which way you did it.
