Wer hat Erfahrung mit automatischer Automatisierung des Systems?
Ist dies Sinnvoll?

Gibt es gute Scripte fuer cron?

Interessante Frage :).

Automatische Sicherheitsupdates, z.B. mit Hilfe von glsa-check, könnte ich mir gut vorstellen. Normale @world Updates halte ich aufgrund sich doch regelmäßig ändernder USE Flags für schwierig. Sicherlich könnte man das auch automatisieren, wobei ich da vermute, dass man so schnell die Kontrolle über sein System verliert. Wenn dann dann noch einige Pakete aus testing verwendet, wird es aus meiner Sicht fast aussichtslos, so etwas vernünftig zu realisieren.

ja klar habe ich garnicht bedacht.
aber die Sicherheitsupdates waeren ja schon gut diese zu automatisieren, oder?

Von einer Automatisierung halte ich überhaupt nichts, denn wie schon von @Fijoldar eingeworfen, muss man
wissen was auf seinem System so läuft und auch der "Herr" des selben sein.

Dass Gentoo von sich aus Sicherheitsupdate einspielt halte ich für ausgeschlossen - der Aufschrei wäre deutlich hörbar.
Man kann gewisse Verwaltungsaufrufe automatisieren, wie:
- eclean -d distfiles
- emerge --sync
- eix-update
alles was darüber hinausgeht, ist Kontrollverlust.

Wer automatische Updates will, der ist bei Gentoo absolut falsch.

Das sieht man schon daran, dass es ja regelmäßig News gibt, die einen darauf hinweisen, dass man manuell etwas am System machen muss. Nehmen wir mal so die letzten Tage: CPU_FLAGS, libav und repos.comf.

Ich sehe den großen Vorteil von Gentoo darin, dass man es sich so anpassen kann, wie man es gerne hätte. Nur mal so als Beispiel, pulseaudio, systemd ja oder nein. Oder libav/ffmpeg, vlc/gstreamer. Man verzichtet damit auf das, weshalb ich Gentoo nutze. Irgendwelche Geschwindigkeitsvorteile, weil man sich alles selber kompiliert sind doch schon lange passe. Gentoo hat aber gegenüber anderen Distributionen deutliche Geschwindigkeitsvorteile, weil ich es mit den USE-Flags auf das reduzieren kann, was ich wirklich brauche. Bei Ubuntu wird einfach alles auf die Platte geschaufelt, was möglich ist. Automatisch.

Wir machen das ganze halbautomatisch. Updates und Sicherheitschecks gehen mit "porticron" raus. Sicherheitsupdates werden halbautomatisch mit Puppet eingespielt.
