Dear,

A world update want to install a version of "xorg-server"

[ebuild U ] x11-base/xorg-server-1.15.0-r2:0/1.15.0 [1.15.0-r1:0/1.15.0] USE="nptl suid udev xorg -dmx -doc -ipv6 -kdrive -minimal (-selinux) -static-libs -tslib -unwind -xnest -xvfb" 0 kB

I get this error :

ERROR: x11-base/xorg-server-1.15.0-r2 failed (install phase):
* !!! newinitd: /usr/portage/x11-base/xorg-server/files/xdm.initd-14 does not exist

In that folder I only have :

xdm-setup.initd-1
xdm.confd-4
xdm.init-14
xorg-server-1.12-ia64-fix_inx_outx.patch
xorg-server-1.12-unloadsubmodule.patch
xorg-sets.conf

Should I rename "xdm.init-14" to "xdm.initd-14"

Thank for your help

Very strange. Can you post your "emerge --info"?

The ebuild should install xdm.initd-11:
Code:
        newinitd "${FILESDIR}"/xdm.initd-11 xdm

In that case it is best if you report this problem to the funtoo developers.

chithanh ... and the thread filed under "101 reasons why asking us to support funtoo is a bad idea" ... gentoo is not "essencially the same thing" ... a quite common reason provided after this little factoid comes to light.

best ... khay

Moved from Installing Gentoo to Unsupported Software. Not about Gentoo so it fits better here.
