|

Hi everyone,
when I run a world update, I tries to go from KDE 4.12 to 4.14.3, which finally fails:
Code: |
emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "kde-apps/oxygen-icons".
(dependency required by "kde-base/libkexiv2-4.14.3" [ebuild])
(dependency required by "kde-base/okular-4.14.3[jpeg]" [ebuild])
(dependency required by "kde-base/kdegraphics-meta-4.12.5" [installed])
(dependency required by "@selected" [set])
(dependency required by "@world" [argument])
|
There is no kde-apps/oxygen-icons in portage - only kde-base/oxygen-icons. However, a grep in /usr/portage reveals that many packages depend on the package in kde-apps. What's going on here?
Complete emerge output:
Code: |
blackbook local # emerge --newuse --deep --with-bdeps=y @world --color y -p
These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

It may be possible to solve this problem by using package.mask to
prevent one of those packages from being selected. However, it is also
possible that conflicting dependencies exist such that they are
impossible to satisfy simultaneously. If such a conflict exists in
the dependencies of two different packages, then those packages can
not be installed simultaneously. You may want to try a larger value of
the --backtrack option, such as --backtrack=30, in order to see if
that will solve this conflict automatically.
For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man
page or refer to the Gentoo Handbook.

Can you post emerge --info
Do you use the kde overlay? |

I think kde4-base.eclass is broken: It adds unconditionally the dependency on kde-apps/oxygen-icons, which makes absolutely no sense in the gentoo tree; I guess that this is a typo and should be kde-base/oxygen-icons, instead. Probably somebody should report a bug... |

I don't use any overlays.

The dependencies are all "kde-apps/oxygen-icons or kde-base-oxygen-icons":
grep oxygen-icons /usr/portage/eclass/kde4-base.eclass
Code: | 336 -# all packages needs oxygen icons for basic iconset
337 :if [[ ${PN} != oxygen-icons ]]; then
338 : kderdepend+=" || ( kde-apps/oxygen-icons $(add_kdebase_dep oxygen-icons) )"
339 -fi |
It seems to me the problem is due to the other conflicts, or you have a broken kde4-functions.eclass/kde4-base.eclass, or "kde-apps/oxygen-icons" in your world file. |

Thanks for your suggestion. As it seems, the whole mess happened because I forgot --update to my emerge... |
