Hello gents,
Due to skype 4.3 no longer supporting ALSA, i am forced to use PulseAudio to make due, however that's causing me some extremely annoying issues, which i am at a loss on the matter of fixing them.
The output audio profile is automatically/constantly switching between "Headphones" (which i am actually using) and Analog output (which is .. nothing?)
This causes a disturbance in the sound, stuttering, static noise & etc.
Has anyone else suffered the same way? Any ideas on how to fix the constant, automatic output profile switching? |

Those newer sound cards can detect when something's plugged in the headphone port, even if the connection isn't 100%, and PA (ab)uses that to be "helpful" as you're seeing.
Disabling CONFIG_SND_HDA_INPUT_JACK in the kernel might make it behave, there doesn't seem to be an option to do the same in pulseaudio. |

Not anymore. forget pulse-audio, just put "pulse" in skype USE
Code: | $ equery uses skype
[ Legend : U - final flag setting for installation]
[ : I - package is installed with flag ]
[ Colors : set, unset ]
* Found these USE flags for net-im/skype-4.3.0.37-r5:
U I
+ + apulse : Use media-sound/apulse for PulseAudio emulation
- - pax_kernel : Triggers a paxmarking of the main skype binary
- - pulseaudio : Add support for PulseAudio sound server |
