Hi there,
after 6 years my gentoo-box need to be redone. New hardware, new installation.
I am dreaming of the following setup and would like to get tips from you how to do it:
- I will have 2 HDD and 1 SSD in the box and 32 GB ram.
- 2HDD will be a RADI1 mirror for data, home etc. SSD will be root.
Because it is my home-server, most of the time the server is in idle. I want the harddisks and SSDs be sleeping as long as possible.
----> Herefore I thing of unionfs, overlayfs or similar:
I want all data written to the server be written to an overlay-file-system to ram and synced every 4 hours to the disks, or if ramdisk is full.
Any Ideas how I can handle this best?
Greetings

Look into laptop mode, there is already a feature meant for this. |

laptop-mode can actually handle a 4 hour timeout like that? That's kinda neat. |
