KDE with black screen KDM asking for passwod over and over

I made a mistake. I innstalled kdm-multimedia before I installed X. Then I could not figure out how to configure X. I tired Xorg --configure. Xorg --config, etc. I can't get X to generate xorg.conf file, and I am not srue where it is supposed to be located. At any rate, when I run /etc/init.d/xdm start, KDM starts with black screen, asking for login and password. I enter my credential and a while later, it comes back asking for login and password. The background of KDM is black. No desktop no nothing.

What do I did? I am reinstalling kde-core hoping that will fix the problem...

Did you specify your xsession in /etc/env.d? What happens if you launch
