Ho compilato il kernel con genkernel.
Però già per fare andare il touchpad correttamente ho dovuto spuntare una voce manualmente (con genkernel --menuconfig all).
Inoltre ora che ho installato k3b mi viene fuori questo errore:

Immagino che basti spuntare qualcosa ma non saprei bene cosa.

Ho scritto nel forum più che altro perché vorrei sapere anche un'altra cosa:
È possibile capire cosa spuntare nel kernel (e quindi compilarselo senza genkernel, visto che comunque bisogna spuntare un po' di cose lo stesso) in qualche modo? (senza cercare un po' a random su google, magari utilizzando solo lspci). Infatti vedo che con lspci non c'è scritto su tutte le voci "Kernel driver in use: nome_driver". Dovrebbe esserci per tutte se il kernel fosse compilato in modo da supportare tutto l'hardware del sistema?

Io non ho mai usato genkernel. Durante l'installazione mi salvo l'output di "lsmod" e "lspci -k" e inizio da quello. Poi bisogna leggere tanta (ma veramente tanta) documentazione
Comunque, nel tuo caso verificherei prima che non manchi il collegamento da /dev/cdrom al nome del device del lettore cd. Di solito è /dev/sr0, ma guarda dentro /dev cosa trovi. _________________ Linux registered user 461710 |

Suppongo che sia in scsi (devices->scsi) di norma devi avere abilitato il supporto dischi, supporto generico (richiesto per alcuni masterizzatori) e supporto cdrom con le estensioni. Forse potresti aver disabilitato il supporto multiple luns e questo scombina qualcosa come lo scan asincrono.
Ribadisco che genkernel è una utilissima base ma da solo, senza configurare correttamente e senza usare menuconfig, è come pretendere che gentoo si installi da sola senza metter meno a make.conf ed impostare le USE flag. E non ha senso usare una impostazione modulare da immagine di boot multipiattaforma su una installazione stabile. _________________ scita et risus abundant in ore stultorum sed etiam semper severi insani sunt

Siccome per risolvere un problema del touchpad ho dovuto dare quei due comandini... a seguito di un riavvio si è sistemato tutto. Nessuna ricompilazione del kernel.
