Gtk slow rendering with certain programs.

This little problem has been bothering me for a while now.
If I open up libreoffice with say only chromium open and a few terminals, the program runs fine and the ui renders as fast as anything else.
It doesn't even get affected by running youtube using the html5 playback option.

Then I launch steam, and from then on no matter if steam is open and maximized, minimized, or even sitting in the tray Libreoffice's ui just renders dog slow.
If i switch from the desktop it's on or minimize it, then maximize it the ui takes as long as several seconds to slowly reappear. buttons, menus, content and all. But i can write in it just like normal once it finishes.
It even gets a little slower if you do this while a html5 youtube video is playing, the video's image will also stutter and freeze till it finishes as well.

I have looked in the .xsession-errors file and i have found nothing..
