|
|
Hello,
I am trying to install Gentoo on a remote Dell R210, and I am unable to boot in. To make matters worse, I couldn't do the installation from a gentoo CD because iDRAC couldn't handle the slowness of my connection, so installation was done from an Ubuntu rescue CD provided by the host. However, I am confident the installation is mostly fine.
Code: | Could not find the root block device in UUID=x |
Fails with UUID, /dev/sdaX. I can't seen any drives in /dev/.
The drive configuration is: 2x 1tb in RADI0 and identified as "Dell Virtual Disk" in the POST screen.
[I am not allowed to change the config.]
This seems to be the same problem: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-816225.html
No solution is described other than "there were some stuff missing in the kernel".
Any ideas what this could be? I used genkernel.
Most certainly with the raid/fakeraid controller driver and the lack thereof, right?

[Edit]
Couldn't get it to working with genkernel no matter what I did, installed kernel using menuconfig with the SCSI driver "mpt2sas" and it works just fine. |

Hi.
As a suggestion, I think it would be great if you moved the EDIT for the fix you found around the top of your first post, e.g. "Dell R210 requires kernel driver mpt2sas".
Cheers. _________________ Gentoo addict: tomorrow I quit, I promise!... Just one more emerge...
