I have a brand new AMD A10 machine. It has an AT keyboard and USB mouse. Both work fine in Windows. When I start GDM, the mouse LED isn't even on. Most of the keys on the keyboard don't work, either. <Ctrl> and <Alt> do as I'm able to use those to get back to the console. I have no Xorg.conf setup. I have re-emerged xf86-input-evdev and xf86-input-keyboard.
I am working from Windows for the next couple hours, but I can post my configuration files later.

are you running xorg unstable? i tried to switch to it and basically lost all input once i start x like you describe but unlike you ctrl-alt stoppedworking.
Currently rebuilding gentoo on a new machine but with stable xorg, will tell you if i get similar results .
Might take a while tough, my brother is gonna play dragon age inquisition all day on this machine from midnight. (building him a triple boot) _________________ Revised Murphy's law: source distros can be immune to the previous in runtime, provided you endure maximum annoyance in setup. |

I got it:
1. On a Kaveri system, VIDEO_CARDS needs to be "radeon radeonsi"
2. USB 1.1 support needs to be present for mice to work. |
